Day 6

Just Keep Digging, Just Keep Digging and a Birthday

Today was a very early day for Mike, Chaz, Alec and Cam who headed out at 7:30 to head up to Con Cow to continue work on the 30-foot trench, but now they had a jack hammer and got the trench completed for inspection. They also painted inside the house and put on door knobs. Chaz installed the vent hood over the stove, the dryer vent and completed the trim on the second floor. The inspector came and they passed inspection so now to their delight they got to fill in the trench back in. LOL 😊

The second team landed at Tiny Pine at 8:30 to meet up with Alyssa and pick up supplies and head to the house in Orville to finish up the renovations to the house. When we got to Tiny Pines, Laura and Jenna stayed to finish up organizing the tool area of the warehouse which was in complete disarray and Leggy stayed with them to help.

The final group, Debby, Sierra, Jay, Lia, Julian and Aiden complete various projects throughout the house. Jay installed additional counters in the kitchen, Debby hung 11 curtain rods, Aiden and Julian had to add a gate to the chain link fence that originally was not needed but then had to be added which was a challenge to tackle. Sierra and Lia applied polyurethane to three bedrooms, a large living room and finally as we headed out the door, the hallway. We had cleaned the house and garage and it was ready to be moved in.

Today was also Cam’s 16th birthday and to celebrate for dinner Mike bought steaks from Costco and an ice cream cake which the kids all enjoyed. However, after dinner, before the birthday cake, the kids performed some skits for the adults. There were four different skits which had us all laughing! It was great to see Sierra jump right in and perform right along with the other kids who had been here last year. They are a great bunch of kids and have been working really hard in 110 degree weather and still have energy at night to have fun with each other. Well off to bed as tomorrow will be another early day!
